The Problem

Initially brought in to help with mobile site. I decided that I could redesign, rebrand and rewrite the front-end of the entire product into a single responsive website.

I started on establishing an updated logotype and logomark which would stand as the cornerstone of the rebrand. I explored with different types of illustrations and landed on Ollie, our beloved mascot who among other characters would help introduce and guide our users to the Olocode.

I wanted to own the letter ‘O’ to sit alongside other popular social media platforms and therefore went for a logomark that made the letter prominent. The logotype would utilise a two tone palette to help make the brand memorable.

Visual Identity

Ollie became our beloved mascot

Design trends were starting to transition from skeuomorphic to flat design and I embraced this shift as it helped with responsiveness and made designs scalable. I wanted to also incorporate photos of people using the product to highlight the social aspect of Olocode.

Responsive and Dynamic

The digital business card and contact management tool worked beautifully on phones, tablets and desktops. We wanted users to feel comfortable using it on the go, but also to be part of the office experience and make use of the real estate of larger devices.

Guiding Users

A neat feature of Olocode was the ability to scan business cards and to automatically send your details to the person being scanned. Below are a few screens that housed where users would scan, send, store and view the business cards.

Part of the onboarding was to simplify the product into key activities. I also created a tips and tricks section that would act as useful guides on the different ways Olocode could be used.

Wearing Many Hats

In addition to product design and development I created marketing material from video animations, product explainers, infographics and was even given a marketing budget for social media advertising.

I attended events to interact with our users and hear first-hand about their experience using Olocode. I also promoted Olocode at TechCrunch Disrupt and gave a presentation to AIESEC students around the the product and contact sharing.

I also created print material that was distributed at events from flyers, posters and business cards.

Result

Olocode was a densely packed few years where I was fortunate enough to get knee-deep in different parts of a product’s growth. The creative freedom helped drive fresh ideas and allowed us to achieve so much in such a short amount of time. We made it to Gizmodo’s App of the week, praised in Adweek and Businesswire and had a strong following of loyal users.
